Literasi Kunci Aksi Pemimpin Abadi

Banyak pemimpin di dunia yang membuktikan kehebatan nya dengan mengukir berbagai prestasi yang luar biasa hebat dan hampir mustahil untuk dapat ditandingi. Namun kata mustahil ini dapat di anggap tidak ada apabila menekuni atau menerapkan habit (kebiasaan) yang senantiasa para pemimpin di dunia terapkan. Karena para pemimpin itu bukanlah para pemimpin jika bukan karena berhasil menaklukkan diri mereka sendiri sebelum menaklukkan hal yang lebih besar. Penaklukan itu dimulai dengan menciptakan kebiasaan-kebiasaan baru dan mempertahankan kebiasaan lama yang berdampak positif dan membangun. Salah satu dari sekian banyak kebiasaan yang berpengaruh besar dan menjadi faktor paling menentukan adalah kebiasaan mereka dalam memperhatikan, membaca dan memahami semesta yang luas ini.

Tak dapat di pungkiri bahwa jalan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman atas semesta ini mestilah dengan literasi. Jika ditelusuri, secara etimologis literasi berasal dari bahasa latin yaitu literatus yang artinya belajar. Dan kegiatan belajar ini mestilah tak lepas dari membaca dan menulis. Bahkan jika lebih dipersempit, literasi ini mestilah diawali dengan membaca. Artinya, janganlah kita pandang bahwa para pemimpin di dunia itu lahir satu paket dengan kepintaran serta kehebatan mereka, akan tetapi seluruh kemampuan itu datang dari kebiasaan mereka menyusun keping demi keping puzzle ilmu pengetahuan yang berguna bagi mereka di masa mendatang. Kemudian apabila ditanyakan “harus membaca apa?” Maka jawablah “apa saja yang berguna bagimu dan orang lain di dunia dan akhirat”, terkesan umum memang tapi itulah kenyataannya. Bahkan ayat suci al-Qur’an saja tidak membatasi apa yang mesti di baca, yang penting baca saja. Allah swt berfirman:

اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ

         “Bacalah dengan nama tuhanmu yang menciptakan.” (QS. al-‘Alaq ayat 1)

Dalam lanjutan ayatnya, ada sebuah petunjuk yang mengindikasikan bahwa dengan membaca dapat meningkatkan derajat pembacanya, yang dengan itu tidak hanya berdampak pada bertambahnya ilmu pengetahuan tetapi juga meninggikan kedudukan si pembaca, tentu saja hal ini berdampak positif bagi kehidupannya. Namun juga perlu difahami bahwa pembacaan yang baik adalah pembacaan yang diniatkan untuk hal baik dan tidak tergiring begitu saja oleh berbagai kalimat yang negatif dan berdampak negatif, seperti halnya para pemimpin diktator termasuk Adolf Hitler yang menjadikan il principle (sang pangeran) karya Niccolo Machiavelli sebagai kitab sucinya, sehingga semakin ganaslah metode kepemimpinan pada masanya, namun bukan berarti dilarang keras membaca hal-hal baru. Bahkan petunjuk untuk berhati-hati dalam membaca ini juga telah tertuang dalam al-Qur’an surat al-‘Alaq ayat pertama, yang mengindikasikan bahwa membaca itu mestilah didasarkan kepada kebenaran tuhan semesta alam, dengan bunyi ayat “dengan nama tuhanmu yang menciptakan”.

Ada satu buku yang memuat seratus tokoh akan tetapi mengandung seribu perdebatan, dimana telah tersusun tokoh-tokoh dunia paling berpengaruh dari yang pertama hingga tokoh keseratus. Buku karya Michael H. Hart itu setidaknya memperkuat dua pernyataan berikut. pertama, Bahwa para pemimpin paling berpengaruh versi Michael H. Hart itu berlatarbelakang seorang pembaca/pemikir dalam maksud yang lebih umum. Kedua, para pemimpin itu sampai sekarang pengaruhnya (pemikirannya) sangatlah kuat, ditandai dengan tersebarnya pengaruh mereka hampir menjangkau segala sudut penjuru dunia. Ditambah, karena sebuah pemikiran itu tidak terbatas ruang dan waktu. Artinya, boleh dikatakan bahwa keberadaan mereka di muka bumi ini terasa abadi, yang menandakan bahwa kepemimpinan mereka di dunia itu abadi. Untuk lebih jelasnya, berikut penulis sajikan data yang memuat pekerjaan mereka dan jumlah keseluruhannya.

Semua bidang yang ditekuni oleh para tokoh diatas, adalah bidang-bidang yang tidak akan lepas dari kegiatan literasi di dalamnya. Termasuk juga tokoh pemuka agama, Michael H. Hart sendiri menempatkan Nabi Muhammad saw di urutan pertama. Yang mana beliau saw jugalah seorang pembaca yang membaca Wahyu Allah swt untuk di sampaikan kepada umat manusia seluruhnya. Dan bidang-bidang yang lain juga demikian, seperti misalnya seorang politikus/pimpinan militer mengharuskan dia banyak membaca supaya tahu cara mengalahkan musuh-musuhnya, kemudian seorang ilmuwan/penemu mengharuskan dia memperkuat dasar-dasar ilmunya terlebih dahulu dengan membaca supaya ia mampu mengungkap hal baru, kemudian seorang Filosof mengharuskan ia memahami hakikat segala sesuatu dan hal itu tidak lain hanyalah mampu dicapai dengan jalan membaca dan pengungkapan, kemudian seorang Ahli seni/sastra mengharuskan ia memahami keindahan-keindahan yang mampu memukau manusia dan itu tidak dapat di capai kecuali dengan membaca dan lain sebagainya.

Berdasarkan data diatas, hal paling mendasar yang menjadikan para pemimpin dunia itu berada di level yang berbeda jika dikutip dari tulisan karya Dave Olsen setidaknya ada lima sebab, diantaranya. Pertama, membaca mengangkat situasi kita lebih dari biasa. Kedua, membaca membuat pengalaman kita berlipat ganda. Ketiga, membaca memperkenankan kita untuk menghabiskan waktu bersama orang-orang pintar. Keempat, membaca mampu membangun keahlian kita dengan cepat. Kelima, membaca mampu memberikan kita jalan keluar atau solusi. Maka kelima hal yang telah disebutkan adalah faktor-faktor yang akan mengantarkan pribadi manusia naik tangga demi tangga menuju kualitas diri yang diinginkan dan membaca adalah kuncinya, tanpa membaca hampir mustahil rasanya seseorang akan di akui oleh orang lain. Kemudian dimana kita menempatkan posisi kita selama ini, apakah ditempat yang sama dengan para pemimpin atau ditempat yang jauh dari jangkauan mereka. Jangan sampai kita menyesali pilihan kita di masa mendatang karena baru memahami arti penting dari membaca. Di tutup dengan Pepatah arab yang berbunyi:
